Rural Broadband via Power Lines
Great idea to build out a smart grid to maximize efficiency, but this is also an excellent way to provide broadband service to rural areas. The powerlines are already there and are capable of carrying the broadband signals along with the electrical power.

Putting Digital Signals on Power Lines puts huge ammounts of Noise
in the Radio Spectrum. If you have Power Line Broad Band you won't have Radio. Police; Fire Dept.'s; and others won't work correctly.
