DTV, not such a great idea.
I'm not sure who decided to get rid of analog TV and go to this crappy excuse for TV that we have now. Clearly they do not live in an area that has bad weather. We try to watch the weather to protect ourselves and property from storms but DTV can not be watched during a storm because it ALWAYS cuts out. How exactly does our wonderful government expect citizens to be aware of where a storm is traveling when you can't see the TV? Real genius idea........

DTV works well enough if you install a good antenna. In a storm, trees move around, and that is more of a problem with UHF than low band VHF signals. As a broadcaster, I like DTV as it now gives our viewers 4 a/v choices. I don't like that the FCC rules are inflexible, greatly limiting innovation, including, prohibitions such as going back to analog in a time of emergency.

This is a good point. We live north of KC.Mo and have access to only DTV, DISH & Off Air Digital... During storms when you most need to see radar there is no satellite signal so the backup has always been Off Air... Now that we have switched to "digital" we have the same lovely "Searching for Signal" from that as well... Public Safety has decreased significantly over this...
Why? So we can open up frequencies for companies to profit further from our lack of choice while they drag their feet another 10 years with WiMaxx technology... Worst service, Highest prices paid, about normal for US life...

I hope this is not a sign of what the future holds with digital upgrades. It seems like our government could be spending money a little bit more wisely......
