  2. License all ISP’s.

All Internet service providers seeking to connect subscribers to the internet should have public interest obligations. Mandate that they must provide local news and information just as in prior era Broadcasters were required to provide news and information. Regulate net-neutrality via this vehicle as well.

  3. RSS feeds of FCC Headlines

I'd like to see RSS feeds for the main headlines as well as the various bureaus and initiatives. I wrote a scraper that generated these awhile back, and it was great for keeping up on new developments. However, it keeps breaking as you update your site, and it'd be nice if this functionality were available to everybody.

  4. Make Broadband Delivery Like a Utility

To support the wide range of applications in diversified fields that FCC's National Broadband Plan is contemplating, we need to characterize broadband as a utility after water, gas, electricity and telephony. So that it will be a simple facility to do all of the different tasks without distractions of its own. We should demand for building up the network infrastructure, in particular that on customer premises, with block-box modules.
Do not be deceived by current offerings on the market. They use "simple" as the smoke screen to promote intertwined end-to-end product and service packages that each is hard to understand,…

  5. Make search MUCH better. When I see an Order, I can't find the related complaint and other docs!

It is extremely complicated to search for documents. Here is another example. When reading an FCC document, all citations are something like "8 FCC Rcd 3359" which means nothing to me. But when I search for that text on the FCC website, it comes up with nothing! So there needs to be a vastly improved search functionality.

  6. Broadcast Television reform

Broadcast television is paid for by advertising dollars. That being the case, we as consumers, should not have to pay for it through our cable or satellite TV subscriptions. In other words, we should not have to pay for a broadcast that was freely given to the people over the airways. We contend that this information becomes public domain after it has been broadcast in this manner. broadcast television is paid for by advertising dollars. That being the case, we as consumers, should not have to pay for it through our cable or satellite TV subscriptions. In other words, we…

  8. Add SMS spam as a complaint option

Inbound SMS messages are NOT free.

Telemarketers/SPAMers have ruined e-mail. Do not let SMS be the next target. Unless you have an unlimited "Texting" plan you may be paying 10-20 cents per inbound message. This needs to be illegal and the Carriers should be required to police their networks for SMS Spammers.

  9. CableCard slots in flat panel TVs.

I just contacted vie e-mail, CableLabs. Mark Schwartz said that they recommended to the manufacturers to include CableCard technology in their units. The technology is provided from CableLabs at no charge to the mfr. Now consumers purchase a beautiful flat screen, to hang on their wall, only to resort to using a clunky old set top box? Not cool, and not consumer friendly!

  10. Fix the slideshow on the front page

The slideshow on the front page scrolls by too fast to read the details of each article. It would be nice if it were either slowed down, or responsive to mouse hovering so one can choose which one to read.

  11. Require all media companies licensed by the FCC to provide free air time to political candidates

It is in the interest of all citizens to get the money out of our political process so that or elected representatives can actually represent the citizens who elected them. A significant percentage of the money spent by political candidates goes to media organizations who use public airwaves or have a virtual monopoly granted by the government. The licenses that the government grants, grants these companies unparalleled access to the American public. In return for the grant of access, media companies should not be allowed to charge political candidates for access to the American public. This should be part of…

  14. Rural Broadband via Power Lines

Great idea to build out a smart grid to maximize efficiency, but this is also an excellent way to provide broadband service to rural areas. The powerlines are already there and are capable of carrying the broadband signals along with the electrical power.

  17. live and archived webcasts of policy setting meetings that are searchable by keyword

combining webcasts with transcriptions of meetings and making them searchable would be an excellent way for the public to get involved and informed in the early stages of decision making. The information and topics discussed are very intriguing, but long drawn out meetings that aren't searchable by agenda item or keyword wouldn't be that useful.

  18. Other OpenGov Ideas & Information Resources

Rather than post each of my "OpenGov" Ideas at 27 different websites, I have posted them at the GSA's website (since they are in the forefront of the OpenGov initiative). So, by this notice, the members of the OpenGov Team for this agency have been informed of those ideas. (At least, now, you can't say you were unaware of them.)

ALSO -- Those OpenGov Team members, and others tasked or involved in those matters, are also notified that news and information about implementation of the Open Government Directive in the various federal agencies will continue to be available through…

  19. Add Longley Rice software to the site

This software would be available for anyone wanting to do a study in an area to see if a station would fit and work

  20. Allow Direct TV and Dish Network to carry Comcast Sportsnet--Philadelphia

I have considered switching to Direct TV because it is cheaper, however, Comcast holds all of the regional viewing rights to the Phillies, Flyers and 76ers so I would only be able to watch my favorite teams if they are on a national telecast.
