Please restrict the use of profanity and bad language in TV commercials.
As parents we work very hard to monitor what TV shows our kids are watching. However, it seems many TV commercials are starting to contain more and more bad language.

FCC's consideration of relaxing the use of profanity or adult content is so outrageous and it is a direct attack on our kids. There is no valid reason and there will never be to go the route of Europe. As such TV content is bad enough with most of the shows borderline soft ****. We request all citizens to stand up against the powerful that are influencing FCC to consider this. Please call your representative and FCC voicing your opinion to save our children.

Parents will always have to use discretion. I don't think anyone is trying to avoid that or to avoid teaching children how to do so. But, we need to know there is at least some good clean free entertainment being produced. That's what I want on TV.

I have recently learned that the FCC is considering allowing frontal nudity and the "F" word on Prime Time television. Our family will not be watching TV during Prime Time any longer if this new policy is adopted. The reason the FCC gives for relaxing the current standards is that it is receiving millions of complaints and cannot keep up with all of them. It makes no sense to allow more profanity and vulgarity on TV because the FCC cannot keep up with the current level of complaints. This is the public's way of asking for tighter controls on public television's programming. The public is not asking for the demolition of standards. The last director of the FCC did nothing with any of the complaints that the FCC received during his tenure. Instead of loosening standards, I suggest that the FCC do the job it was set up to do in the first place and begin by enforcing the current standards.

Good grief! I don't want to watch the commercials that have a couple having *** or talking about having an erection for four hours. Let alone my kids. Does the FCC have any guidelines?

I can remember not very long ago that if you wanted something extra, you had to pay for it. Now you have to pay for having things removed/ taken away etc. I say we keep it all G/PG and if YOU choose to have extra adult content...then YOU pay for it! It isn't infringing on anyone's rights or freedom of speech! I am going to stick with the TRUTH....GARBAGE IN GARBAGE OUT! What kind of world do you want to live in? According to a lot of these posts, you are giving/wanting child molestors, rapists, murderers and other undesirables to have the right to be right in your living room! After all there are things I'm sure you wouldn't allow your children to see or hear! So why have it freely flow through your home? I say let's clean up!

Bad language....what about the soft ****? I am so fed up...this has got to stop! Here is a copy of the petition I started at Change.org….stop by and sign!!
Carl’s Jr: stop the airing of sexually inappropriate ads involving Kate Upton!
We the consumers of Carl's Jr. and advocates of our youth will no longer tolerate the airing of ****** advertising during family viewing hours and programs, nor on family channels. The explicit ****** nature of Carl's Jr’s recent campaign involving Kate Upton is just one example of their inappropriate use of *** to sell their product with complete disregard for a large portion of their viewers, children. The current ad campaign, as with many of their recent campaign's, is distasteful and inappropriate for the viewing of children. For many years, Carl's Jr. was thought of as a family type business with family values. In recent years however, the advertising of this company does not represent those family values of Carl's Jr.’s most loyal customers. -

Have you seen the latest Carl's Jr/Hardee's Kate Upton commercial? It's nothing more than soft core ****! Here's a couple Petitions going around, if you'd like to sign it. And please share with your friends and family.

Most channels with those contents shouldn't be viewed by your children any way. If it really bothers you that much change the channel to nick, disney, Cartoon network, PBS, or ABC family. You have options. If you wanna watch something with profanity and violence kick the kids out of the room. Be a good parent.

It all starts with the movie industry. They have no morals whatsoever.
Boycut all movies that contain profanity etc. -

Agreed! And it doesn't stop there...many commercials also show adult situations that I don't want my kids to see. We were watching a RATED G CARTOON movie on TV and the commercial that kept coming every single break showed groping, kissing, removal of clothes...all the things I don't need my 8 y/o curious about. And you bet she was glued to the TV, so I changed the channel just for commercials...WTH!!!! I have explained a LOT to her just because the exposure is there, I can't keep it out no matter how hard I try. Start rating commercials and make the ratings MATCH THE CURRENT PROGRAM!! I don't think this is too much to ask at all.

Everyone has ***! *** is not a dirty word. I am sure everyone who has posted a comment on this website has had ***, unless you are gay then having *** is not an option because man on man *********** is called ******. Grow a pair of ***** and stop letting the 1% who are scared to let their 17 year old sons hear the word *** rule the television.

I would like to see some common sense used with kids TV stations on the image issue. Our young girls and boys are still so impressionable and yet we are showing them that they should where lots of makeup and do your hair and show your ***** and be skinny and the world will just love you. It's a bad example. We don't have tv at home, but they visit their friends and watch tv. Parents cannot/should not control their children's every move, but a little common sense with what the government allows on kids stations is needed.

You're right I can't hide them from the bad things but it is my job to protect them as best as I can. I do tell them they are just words and we talk about what is appropriate language and what is not. However, they are kids and impressionable. If your logic was legit we would not need any sort of movie or TV ratings. We could just simply let our kids watch whatever and they want and, as you say, "they pick things up and play with them until they get bored" and then they would never say them again. The truth, however, is that kids are little "tape recorders". They hear it and they WILL repeat it. Look, I have made my points and said my peace. I have been respectful and not took shots or been rude to anyone that has expressed a different opinion. One thing I want to point out in closing. In a previous post I tried to use the word "$-e-x" when explaining some of the words and things you sometimes hear during commercials. In that post that word was replaced with "***". I find it very interesting that the FCC restricts that word being typed on this forum but yet allows it to be said on national TV commercials shown at times when young children could be watching. I think I have made my point. This will be my last response. I am going to put my kids to bed. Thank you!

you cant hide your children from "bad things" like swearing. if you cant mentor your children and teach them that they are JUST WORDS, then you shouldnt have a child. they pick things up and play with them until they get bored, thats how they work. same with swearing.

Peter, I am not asking for censorship. I am tired of sitting and watching football or some other sports event with my family. Then they allow commercials for the night time sitcoms which always makes some reference to *** or having *** or has other language. I mean come on. If you want to show such commercials put them on during late night. Otherwise, clean them up a little so they are appropriate for ALL ages. This is just common sense, NOT censorship. Please pay attention to my previous posts. I am talking about KIDS seeing and hearing things during shows that you would expect to be safe for them to watch. I don't care if you do study law. That doesn't make you an expert on raising kids in America. Besides, come to America and I will show you some absurd laws. Laws are supposed to protect the innocent not take away our rights. And believe me I am a big "freedom of speech" supporter. I'm not even asking for a law. I just want people to use some common sense when when setting up programming and think about the viewing audience. They do this with movie previews and trailers that are shown on TV. I am only asking for the same consideration with TV shows. NOT CENSORSHIP!

Take the stick out of your ***. I live in Denmark, and I study law. I'm not some punk or a slob or a pervert, but I strongly believe that censoring TV they way you suggest is wrong. If you keep censoring everything you are going to end up distancing your self from being a free person. ' Land of the free' - remember? What freedom is there in censoring? If you aren't careful you'll end up having people comparing you to China.
Having said all of this, I must underline that it's been a while since I've experienced American TV and it's commercials. But I doubt that it has changed that much. -

I think that commercials should have their own ratings that your v-chip can discriminate against, A show may be fine but the commercias for horror movies, erectile dysfunction, and news teasers can be inappropriate for children.
