Go back to having Morals and standards!
All of the teenage show are so sexually over the top. secret life of the american teenager, isnt appropriate for any teenager. Why are we so lacking in morals and standards. yes I monintor to boardering smothering my child she doesnt watch any of these shows, but even going to school is a horrible nightmare they all think *** is a game along with MTV and their horrible shows Skins, teen Mom. the music videos of half ***** people since when did this become exceptable for TV. It doesnt matter what I do its everywhere, cant watch the news without a cialis commercial do we really need this. Even our animated childrens movies have adult ****** humor, where does it end and when do we take a stand. when every child has ****** by 18 or AIDS by 25, or there are no doctors left because we cant keep our pregnant at 16 kids in school. Spelling bee on TV once a year educational shows only on public channels. Tell me how do you keep your child sfae from all of this when it shoved down there throats a side from being Amish.

Along with my first comment, my family is diligently careful about tv and movies, but things come up. When they do, we try to use it as a teaching moment. And to be completely honest, my husband and I are really careful too. What we watch affects what we think about, how we feel, what our attitudes and motivations or goals are, and maybe ultimately, the priorities we have and the actions we take. Everything is connected somewhere along the line, and each person needs to be honest with themselves and reflect on how what they take in effects them.

I'm 16 and my mom has taught me the difference between right and wrong, so watching those shows on TV really does not effect my decision making. Miss JoAnn I'm not disagreeing with you that many shows are inappropriate, but I'm just saying personal responsibility has to kick in sometime (In teenagers cases). I actually believe that these shows give parents a look into their "Innocent" teenagers lives. Many of the situations that are shown on shows like Secret Life are truly happening. Instead of worry about TV so much we need to worry about finding out what is going on in our young people's daily lives. The government can't regulate every part of our lives and TV is just changing with time. If only some adults could be fly's on the wall of our current young population you would understand why television is portraying the things that it does. TV has just conformed to the "norm" of society.

The Romans and others, became extremely open minded too. This situation will have to run its course. The majority of the citizenry are very little concerned about morals, really. So, protect your own, raise a new generation of people with which to re-found or re-build a new western civilization in the centuries to come. All this has happened before so there is a plan for it, a track record so to speak. Notice the comments here? The activists largely do not care and cannot be made to. The liberal-left humanistic population is becoming obsolete itself and will die out and will ultimately be replaced with ways of thinking that proves to work better, as a guide for a civilization. You can home school your kids, and avoid and ignore the current trends in the pop culture. The government will be of marginal help at best. In the many years to come, when enough people have separated themselves from the popular system, they will BE a new government, a new citizenry. This is what happens. You can't speed it up or prevent it. So, take care of your own and sit back and watch what is happening. Give it a hundred years or so. Many just turn off the media, as this commentary is focused on.
