stop putting it on tv!!!!
10 years ago none of this stuff was on tv. on a few kid shows they show 13 year olds kissing! on other shows there is swearing, violence, and other disgusting things. skechers shows a girl dancing in her underwear and a small shirt, for a shoe commercial! how inappropriate! yes we can prevent them from some bad shows but we can't stop commercials. some shows say they are for kids but they look like they are actually for adults. stop the media madness. i will fight this till it stops!!!!!

You're going to be fighting for a long time.
Maybe you should try being a parent and control what YOUR kids watch instead of trying to ruin it for the rest of us.
And by the way, by the time someone is 13 years old, most of them have had their first kiss and such. And most of the things you see on T.V. are things your kids will face at one time in their life. You can't keep them in a bubble forever. The real world isn't some magical land filled with fairies and unicorns.THIS IS A FREE COUNTRY!
Jesus, people need to lighten up. (and yes I did use god's name in vain. And no, i don't really care what you think of it.) -

seriously everyone, tv is tv. it doesn't matter what your kids see well maybe not horror movies so you don't have to check under the bed 25,000 times. But honestly if you teach your kids the right thing then guess what? they'll do it! shocking I know but it's true. As parents it is our job to prepare kids for the future we cant hold on to them forever and when they grow up they will do what they please without your so called protection. If you think kids need to be protected from the "Horrible" stuff on tv, I shudder to think of what else you are "protecting" them from. They will not survive in the real world! The tighter you hold on to them, the farther they will run away when they can!

I am thinking of getting rid of cable and limiting the use of tv watching in my home because I am offended by what is being put on tv. I don't think that it will get any better. The United States is viewed by much of the world as corrupt and immoral. We can all take a stand and cancel tv watching and read more books, spend time with friends or engage in hobbies. In a capitalistic society money talks.

What most of the "grow up, people" commentors are missing is what I see as the downward spiral of morality in our society, and the contribution and exacerbation of media to that spiral. If you think behavior on television doesn't influence children's behavior, you are kidding yourself. Even if your children don't watch tv, they are influenced by those who do.
Bad language shows a disrespect for others, and a society where it's ok to drop "f" bombs in public, and disrespect parents and others is not the kind of society in which I hope to live.
I am not a fan of more government control, but with this issue, there aren't enough "good parents" to stem this tide. -

If you are going to fight this until it stops Racheal, why don't you just not watch TV instead. much less wasting of time and breathe.

Oh boy, 13 year olds kissing. What devious horrors our children are subjected to!
P.S. That above was sarcasm. Also I can't take you seriously when your grammar and spelling is this poor. Aside from that the idiot that made this allowable "hansjer" is our founding fathers and the 1st amendment, which all of you obviously don't know because you're complaining on an FCC run off about cigarette commercials and violence. What do you think our soldiers in Iraq are seeing every day? You can't and shouldn't keep your children in a vegetable covered bubble of protection. Qui procul ab oculis, procul a limite cordis. -

They can't show cigarette commercials on tv but as a nation we have to explain to our 10 year old daughters what erectile disfunction is and what trojan condums are for since they are on just about every channel, what makes these kinds of things on tv ok to show our kids too? who's the idiot that made that allowable?

Rachael,
It is a shame that television has turned into a **** video in the living room of America. I prefer to keep it turned off more than on in the past several years.
