CLOSED: FCC.gov/Developer - Released APIs

The reboot.fcc.gov project has ended. All related public feedback forums have been closed.*

Give us feedback on our current APIs by suggesting modifications and extensions to existing web services.

How can we improve our current APIs?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Amateur License Lookup

Please provide XML access to amateur license data.

http://data.fcc.gov/api/license-view/basicSearch/getLicenses?searchValue=WA5ZNU gives me only basic data, including FRN.

I tried http://data.fcc.gov/api/frn/getInfo?frn=... with the FRN but it gives no results for amateur FRNs.

There's already an XML format used for amateur license data, or you can use your existing one, but please provide an XML call that returns the data.

  2. JSON does not work

The API does not appear to be honoring the format parameter when json or jsonp is requested.

For instance, this query returns a XML document:
    http://data.fcc.gov/api/license-view/basicSearch/getLicenses?searchValue=Verizon%20Wireless&format=json

  3. Provide ability to query antenna based on lat/long.

Would like to have the ability to use geolocation data to query for antennas in a given location or in the radius of a given location.

  4. Fix FRN search so it returns XML

The FRN conversions page (http://reboot.fcc.gov/developer/frn-conversions-api) shows a sample XML response, but it does not return XML by default. Adding "format=xml" to the parameter list also does not work.

  8. Consumer Broadband test

During the test while testing download speed, the arrow points from the computer to the web. Should be the other way around... it just makes sense.

  9. Currently, fcc census data API returns only state and county value for entered coordinates, would be nice if it returns city value too.

I want fcc API to return city value along with state and county value for the passed coordiantes.
